Greensky Bluegrass Streams New Album ‘All For Money’

Tomorrow (Friday, January 18), Greensky Bluegrass will formally release their seventh studio album, All For Money, on the group’s label Big Blue Zoo Records. Ahead of the album’s official release tomorrow, the Michigan-based group premiered their new record via Billboard.

Named one of JamBase’s 10 Most Anticipated Albums of 2019, All For Money features 12 new tracks and was recorded at Echo Mountain Sound in Asheville, North Carolina. The follow-up to 2016’s Shouted, Written Down & Quoted was co-produced by Dominic John Davis, who serves as Jack White’s bassist, and Glenn Brown.

Fans will likely be familiar with the album’s title track and tunes like “Do It Alone,” “Like Reflections” and “Courage For The Road,” which were released as singles. However, GSBG also offered tastes of the new album during their ongoing winter tour, such as “Murder Of Crows,” “What You Need” and “Ashes.” The band also performed two new songs off the album, “Collateral Damage” and “Cathedral Eyes,” during a recent Paste Studio session in New York City.

“We wanted to get the energy of us playing and not having it sound like it was tooled together,” mandolinist Paul Hoffman told Billboard. “On a lot of past records we would discover those tones as we were working on the songs in the studio. Now we’ve played so much that we just have a lot more ideas to choose from, and new tricks from the last record that pop up when we’re improvising on stage. This time we brought them in with us as things that could be part of the songs from the get-go.”
