Greensky Bluegrass teamed back up with frequent collaborator Holly Bowling in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday. The KEMBA Live! concert kicked off a run of shows with the keyboardist in what has become known as 6reensky.

Following an opening set from Holly, the sextet — Bowling, mandolinist Paul Hoffman, guitarist Dave Bruzza, banjoist Michael Bont, bassist Mike Devol and dobroist Anders Beck — kicked off the first set with “Murder Of Crows.” The band’s cover of Jimmy Martin’s “Hit Parade Of Love” followed. Next up, staples “Old Barns” and the Bruzza-penned “Bottle Dry.”

6reensky then embarked on a 13.5-minute “Courage For The Road” ahead of a “Before Bring Out Your Dead” and “Bring Out Your Dead” segment. The sextet then got into “Reasons To Stay” off their latest album, 2022’s Stress Dreams. During the jam, Bowling delivered a crunchy electric piano solo followed by an auto-wah-inflected run from Beck. Anders then led the band into the cover favorite, Pink Floyd’s “Time,” to wrap the first frame.

More Stress Dreams in “Grow Together” opened the second set followed by “I’d Probably Kill You” and “Reverend.” 6reensky then paired up “New & Improved” and “Burn Them” followed by “Forget Everything.” Next, the group linked up “Broke Mountain Breakdown” with a cover of Phish’s “Chalkdust Torture,” together clocking in at around 26 minutes, to seal the second set. The sextet returned to encore with “Windshield.” The 6reensky run continues in St. Louis tonight then on to Chicago this weekend.
