Greensky Bluegrass celebrated Halloween last night with a concert at The Refinery in Charleston, South Carolina. The five band members wore matching skeleton costumes and debuted covers of songs by Randy Travis and Robbie Robertson.
GSBG began the evening’s festivities with the skeleton-costumed musicians performing “Bone Digger.” Near the end of the first set, Greensky mined similar territory by debuting a cover of “Diggin’ Up Bones” by veteran country singer-songwriter Randy Travis. “Diggin’ Up Bones” originally appeared on Travis’ 1986 debut album, Storms Of Life, and was written by the Nashville songwriting team of written by Paul Overstreet, Al Gore and Nat Stuckey.

The setlist for the second set consisted of songs with menacing titles like “Please Don’t Bury Me” by John Prine, “Demons,” “I’d Probably Kill You,” “Screams,” ‘Before Bring Out Your Dead” and “Bring Out Your Dead.” Covers of the Ghostbusters theme and “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” were also part of set two.
The two-song encore began with GSBG debuting a cover of The Band guitarist Robbie Robertson’s solo composition, “Broken Arrow.” The song was dedicated to Phil Lesh, who sang it with the Grateful Dead and sadly died last week at age 84.
