Greensky Bluegrass wrapped up a two-night run at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, Georgia near Atlanta on Saturday benefitting Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) nonprofit Debra of America. GSBG would welcome Fruition’s Mimi Naja for a Dawes cover during the first set.

Greensky Bluegrass — mandolinist Paul Hoffman, guitarist Dave Bruzza, banjoist Michael Bont, bassist Mike Devol and dobro player Anders Beck — got the show underway with “Room Without A Roof” followed by “Wheel Hoss.” “The Four” would kick off a continuous section that led into just the second performance, as per Phantasy Tour, of Widespread Panic’s “Bust It Big,” last time played by Greensky on December 8, 2017 in Mexico.

“All Four” would then lead into the GSBG debut of Dawes’ “All Your Favorite Bands” featuring Naja. Mimi, who grew up outside Atlanta, played guitar and sang on the tune. The quintet then continued with a pair of numbers, “Murder Of Crows” and “Do It Alone,” from their 2019 album All For Money with a bit of baseball banter in between. “Living Over” would close out the first set.

“Miss September” began the second frame ahead of “Don’t Lie,” which contained a “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” tease. John Hartford’s “Steam Powered Aeroplane” and the Bruzza-penned “Bottle Dry” followed. David Grisman’s “E.M.D.” (Eat My Dust)” then kicked off a seamless set-closing section that consisted of “Wish I Didn’t Know,” “Courage For The Road” (featuring a Nelly “Hot In Here” tease), Prince’s ”When Doves Cry” and a return to “Courage” to bring the second set to a close. Greensky Bluegrass reemerged to deliver some more baseball shenanigans ahead of an encore of “Before Bring Out Your Dead” and “Bring Out Your Dead” to conclude the evening.
