Tonight marks 40 years to the day since the Grateful Dead performed at the intimate Great American Music Hall in San Francisco in 1975. The gig became legendary when in 1991 a recording was issued as One From The Vault, and this evening Great American Music Hall will host a celebration of the occasion with an all-star lineup of musicians honoring the storied performance. If you can’t make it to the Bay Area tonight there’s an option to watch from home or wherever you have an internet connection.

Opening the evening will be acoustic duo Doobie Decibel System followed by the assembled lineup of Mark Karan, Robin Sylvester, James Nash, Neil Hampton, David Gans, Totally Dead (Will McCosker – drums, Dave Gantenbein – bass, Ned Patchett – guitar & vocals, Matt Salata – guitar & vocals, Jaime Cintado – keys & vocals, Eileen Flynn Bell – vocals), Teja Gerken, Alex Bleeker (Real Estate), Roger McNamee, Jason Crosby (Doobie Decibel System), Kyle Field (Little Wings), Cochrane McMillan (Tea Leaf Green), Danny Eisenberg, Henry Kaiser with Bob Bralove, Scott Amendola & Michael Manring, Grahame Lesh, Harry Duncan plus more special guests.

Show organizers have secured the Blues For Allah backdrop used by the Grateful Dead on August 13, 1975 (seen above) and it will be displayed behind the performers this evening. A portion of ticket sales from the event will benefit the Rex Foundation. Head here at 9:00 p.m. PT to watch the show live in HD from Great American Music Hall.
