Grateful Dead ‘Uncle John’s Band’ Paris 1974

As previously reported, a massive, career-spanning 80-disc Grateful Dead box-set entitled Thirty Trips Around The Sun will be released by Rhino Records on September 18. The aptly named collection comprises 30 complete Grateful Dead live show recordings, one previously unreleased concert from each year the band toured, including the Dead’s September 18, 1974 performance in Paris at Parc des Expositions which featured the recording of “Uncle John’s Band” available below.

The nearly 10-minute take on the classic Robert Hunter/Jerry Garcia composition opened the band’s show that night. Give a listen to “Uncle John’s Band” taken from Paris on September 18, 1974:
