Pro-shot video featuring the Grateful Dead‘s version of “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” from a 1989 concert serves as this week’s installment of the band’s All The Years Live series. “Mississippi Half-Step” was filmed at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C. on July 12, 1989.
The Grateful Dead debuted “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” live on July 16, 1972. A studio version of the Hunter/Garcia classic was featured on Wake Of The Flood in 1973.

“Usually a show-opener in its last 20 years in the setlist, this version from RFK 1989 was played as the third song of the first set,” said GD archivist David Lemieux in a note accompanying the video. “Always fun to see the Dead mix things up from the usual setlist format.”
