The Grateful Dead’s performance of “Let It Grow” from July 16, 1990 is the latest installment of the band’s All The Years Live video series. Bob Weir led the take on the song he wrote with John Perry Barlow during a concert held at Rich Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.
“For a little over a year, from September 1973 to October 1974, ‘Let It Grow’ was in the Grateful Dead’s repertoire as part of ‘Weather Report Suite,’ but when the Dead returned to the road in June 1976, it was without its ‘Prelude’ and ‘Part 1,” wrote GD archivist David Lemieux in a note accompanying the video. “After 1976, ‘Let It Grow’ was primarily a first set closer, or the penultimate song of the first set, as it was here. This rendition is from Brent Mydland’s sixth-to-last show.”
