Next month, Gov’t Mule will release Dark Side Of The Mule in various formats, which features the band’s Halloween 2008 show from The Orpheum Theatre in Boston. Today, the quartet has announced more details of the various formats for Dark Side Of The Mule and has put the new release up for pre-sale.

Dark Side Of The Mule is available for purchase as a single CD, as a deluxe 3-CD set with a bonus DVD, on vinyl and as a digital download. The DVD is said to contain the band’s entire performance. Gov’t Mule performed a number of Pink Floyd’s much-beloved songs in Boston on Halloween 2008 including “Fearless,” “Money,” “Have A Cigar” and “Wish You Were Here.” Check out our coverage of that historic night at The Orpheum.

As a reminder, Gov’t Mule will also issue Stoned Side Of The Mule, Vol. 1 on Black Friday as part of Record Store Day. The limited run, vinyl-only release contains highlights from Gov’t Mule’s famed Halloween 2009 performance at the Tower Theater outside of Philadelphia. The show featured a long and varied set of Rolling Stones covers performed by the Mule with special guests Jackie Greene (Phil Lesh and Friends, Black Crowes, Trigger Hippy) and saxophonist Steve Elson (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Radiohead, David Bowie). The songs on Vol. 1 are newly edited and mastered, with the vinyl lacquers cut from the old Stax Records lathe in Memphis. Here’s a look at our coverage of Mule’s epic Stones tribute.
