Gov’t Mule kicked off their Island Exodus destination event at Jewel Paradise Cove Resort Runaway Bay, Jamaica on Sunday. Mule offered two sets which included a cover of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” with a reggae spin.
Gov’t Mule slotted “Iron Mon” in the second spot of the second set. Guitarist Warren Haynes strummed out the reggae chucks while bassist Kevin Scott thumped the Sabbath classic’s iconic riff with keyboardist Danny Louis trickling in the lick on organ over Matt Abts solid reggae beat.
The band then nodded to their 2007 reggae album Mighty High with a segment dubbed “Reblow Your Horn,” fittingly featuring a trombone solo from Louis. Haynes then led the group back into “Iron Man.” Watch the performance below:

Gov’t Mule launched the concert with “After The Storm” from their latest album, 2023’s Peace… Like A River. The quartet would also perform the LP’s “Shake Our Way Out,” “Gone Too Long” and “Same As It Ever Was,” the latter kicking off the second set ahead of the reggae “Iron Man.”
The second set also saw Mule welcoming saxophonist Ron Holloway beginning on “Sco-Mule” before sacred steel ace Robert Randolph got in on the action for Bobby Bland’s “Turn On Your Lovelight,” J.J Cale’s “After Midnight” and Allen Toussaint’s “Get Out My Life Woman.” Warren Haynes and company went it alone to wrap the second frame with “Mule.”
The encore kicked off with a cover of Tom Waits’ “Get Behind The Mule” before Holloway and Randolph returned for African American spiritual “Wade In The Water” to conclude the concert.
