Gov’t Mule Issues ‘Time Of The Signs’ Bonus EP On Streaming Services & Vinyl

Gov’t Mule unveiled limited-edition vinyl of their Time Of The Signs EP this past Friday for Record Store Day’s Black Friday promotion. The five-track collection, which was previously only available as part of the deluxe edition of the quartet’s 2023 studio album, Peace…Like A River, has also been released digitally on all major streaming services.

Time Of The Signs consists of four songs laid down by the band at the same sessions that yielded Peace..Like A River as well as an alternate version of the LP’s “The River Only Flows One Way” with Gov’t Mule frontman Warren Haynes on lead vocals. “The River Only Flows One Way” featured on Peace…Like A River was sung by guest Billy Bob Thornton.

“This EP, aptly titled Time Of The Signs, is made up of four additional songs that were written and recorded during the sessions for Peace…Like A River,” noted Haynes in a press release. “But these four songs seemed to belong together in the same way that the original 12 on the album belong together, so we decided to make a companion piece. The EP also includes a different version of ‘The River Only Flows One Way,’ which could have gone either way (no pun intended).”

Gov’t Mule next returns to the stage at the 2023 Christmas Jam. The benefit concert will be held at ExploreAsheville.com Arena in Haynes’ hometown of Asheville, North Carolina on December 9.
