By Scott Bernstein May 11, 2016 • 10:26 am PDT
In 1994, Allman Brothers Band guitarist and bassist Warren Haynes and Allen Woody formed Gov’t Mule with drummer Matt Abts. Today, the band has announced the upcoming release of an archival album featuring the trio’s first recording sessions from June 1994 as Consequence of Sound reports The Tel-Star Sessions is due August 5th on Evil Teen Records.
Gov’t Mule assembled at Tel-Star Studios in Bradenton, Florida with ABB sound engineer Bud Snyder shortly after forming to record what was intended to be their debut album. While Mule instead released their self-titled debut album in 1995 featuring sessions recorded with Michael Barbiero at Woodstock’s Bearsville Recording Studios, the band will finally issue their Tel-Star Sessions for the first time in August. The 10-track effort includes many songs that still remain staples of Gov’t Mule’s live sets till today.

The Tel-Star Sessions is currently available for pre-order digitally, as a single CD and as an 180-gram double-vinyl set.
