Gorillaz Release Groovy ‘Silent Running’ Single

Gorillaz shared the new single “Silent Running” featuring vocalist Adeleye Omotayo. The Greg Kurstin-produced track appears on the group’s forthcoming studio album, Cracker Island.

Cracker Island is due out on February 24. The Damon Albarn-helmed band’s eighth full-length studio album includes collaborations with Beck, Stevie Nicks, Bad Bunny, Thundercat, Tame Impala and Bootie Brown. In addition to Kurstin, Gorillaz worked with producer Remi Kabaka Jr. as part of sessions held in 2022 for the 10-track LP in London and Los Angeles.

“Silent Running” was the first song Gorillaz and Greg Kurstin worked on in his Los Angeles studio last year. Adeleye Omotayo has long been a member of Gorillaz’s tour band. The new cut has a sound reminiscent of the project’s early efforts. Powerful synth lines along with Omotayo and Albarn’s vocals are at the heart of “Silent Running.” Albarn described the song’s vibe as “that sort of mesmerising dreamlike state you get in when you’re just following some train of thought.”
