See Gorillaz Tower Over Times Square In ‘Skinny Ape’ Video

Gorillaz released the music video for “Skinny Ape” from their upcoming 2023 album Cracker Island, due out on February 24 via Parlophone. The visual was created from the Gorillaz augmented reality (AR) event in New York City and features giant versions of the virtual quartet performing in Times Square.

Earlier in December, Gorillaz announced they would conduct two first-of-their-kind immersive events in a pair of iconic locales: New York City’s Times Square and London’s Piccadilly Circus. Beginning last weekend, fans could head to the areas and use their devices to view the virtual performances via AR. For those who missed it, the AR spectacle will remain available through the Gorillaz Presents app into 2023.

Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and Emmy-nominated director Fx Goby helmed the “Skinny Ape” visuals. Watch the video below:
