Goose’s Peter Anspach & Rick Mitarotondra Guest With Pigeons Playing Ping Ping In San Francisco

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong brought their winter tour with Goose to San Francisco over the weekend for performances at the Great American Music Hall on Friday and at the Regency Ballroom on Saturday. Saturday’s PPPP set featured guest appearances from Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotondra and multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach.

Goose kicked off the action on Saturday with a set that included originals “Creatures,” “Flodown,” “Tumble” and “Hot Tea” as well as a cover of Spoon’s “Inside Out.” Then, Pigeons took the stage by pairing “High As Five” and “Bad For You.” Next, “Somethin’ For Ya” bled into “Skipjack” ahead of a cover of the Beatles’ “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” From there, Pigeons followed “King Kong” and “Too Long” with a version of “Whoopie” that included “1999” by Prince within. Rick and Peter then emerged on guitar and keys for a well-jammed “Lightning.” PPPP closed out the set with “Horizon” and “The Liquid” and said farewell with an encore of “Distant Times” and “Dawn A New Day.”
