Goose Continues ‘Lead Up’ To New Studio Album

Goose unveiled “Lead Up,” the second single from their forthcoming studio album, Everything Must Go. The 14-track LP, the band’s fourth studio album and first in three years, arrives on April 25 via No Coincidence Records.

Produced by D. James Goodwin, Everything Must Go was previously previewed with its lead single, “Give It Time.” The album is described as “a journey through the group’s past and present” and “a statement of intent” in press materials.

“These songs all come from different times and places in a way that captures a part of the journey of the band,” noted guitarist Rick Mitarotonda. “It moves through time for us, but not in a tidy, linear way. Like the band, it’s okay for things to feel more like a landscape sometimes and less like a singular cohesive statement. It mixes different moods and ideas and characters. The through line is that each piece is part of that journey and that everyone is welcome to the party.”

“Lead Up,” which evolved out of a song Mitarotonda initially penned as a teenager, was debuted live by Goose on March 10, 2023 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. The song has been performed a total of 30 times over the past two years.

“The record is a collection — of songs, of characters, and of different places and times in our lives,” explained Mitarotonda of the new single. “It was a way for me to explore feelings that I didn’t really understand at the time. Sometimes as you get older it becomes valuable reflecting on things from that time in your life, and how pure and unadulterated expressions can be then.“

Goose kicks off an extensive tour in support of Everything Must Go on May 30 in Bend, Oregon after appearances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Viva El Gonzo and BottleRock Napa Valley festivals.
