When Goose returns to the stage on Thursday, they will be down one member. Percussionist Jeff Arevalo is taking a break from touring to prioritize his well-being.
“After much reflection, I’ve made the difficult decision to step away from current touring to focus on my mental health and personal issues,” wrote Arevalo in a note posted on Goose’s social feeds. “As much as I love making music and being on stage, I’ve come to realize that in order to continue giving my best to loved ones, to the band and to all of you, I need to take this time to reset, heal and prioritize my well-being. I truly appreciate your understanding and support.”

Jeff Arevalo joined Goose in 2020. The Cincinnati native, who grew up in Florida, plays several instruments and serves as bassist in the Goose side project Orebolo. Arevalo is featured on the band’s forthcoming studio album, Everything Must Go, which is set for release on April 25.
Arevalo’s bandmates accompanied his note with a statement of their own. “Everyone’s well-being is the most important thing right now. We are grateful for the community’s understanding as Jeff takes time for himself. We appreciate the support and ask that you respect his privacy,” wrote Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weekz, Peter Anspach and Cotter Ellis.
