Goose Shares ‘Autumn Crossing’ EP Featuring ‘Travelers Elmeg Suite’
Watch the video accompanying the surprise studio release.
Produced and engineered by D. James Goodwin at The Isokon in Woodstock, New York, Autumn Crossing was recorded during sessions for Goose’s 2022 album, Dripfield. The EP’s tracklist is made up of “Travelers I” and “Travelers II,” breaking up the song labeled “Travelers” on the band’s live setlists. The third song, completing the “Travelers Elmeg Suite” is “Elmeg The Wise.”
“Travelers” was first performed by Goose on June 19, 2020, and has been played a total of 22 times to date. “Elmeg The Wise” was first performed by guitarist Rick Mitarotonda’s short-lived, pre-Goose band St. John’s Revival before he brought it to Goose who first performed it in 2016. Also a live rarity, “Elmeg The Wise” has only been performed by Goose 17 times, including a standout rendition with Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio sitting in with the band.
“This is a meaningful one for me,” Mitarotonda stated. “It’s among a collection of material I wrote in the years prior to Goose forming. This band is interesting to me in that way, it draws from many different times and places, and there’s a particular freedom to that. This one was a special time and place for me personally.”
Autumn Crossing arrived with an accompanying video filmed and edited by Will Thresher, Michael Nuchereno and Aaron Mannes, watch below:
