Goose returned to the Regency Ballroom on Sunday to complete a two-night stand at the San Francisco venue. The five-piece band continued a trend of debuting a new song to start each second set this tour by offering their first “Arise.”

Last night’s 75-minute first set began with “The Labyrinth,” a track from Goose’s 2021 studio album Shenanigans Nite Club. A jam then led into the band’s third cover of Father John Misty’s “Writing A Novel.” Next came a slow “Tumble” and an improv-heavy “Wysteria Lane.” The ensuing “Me & Julio Down By The School Yard” saw lighting director Andrew Goedde provide the whistling featured within the Paul Simon song. Goose went on the close the set with “So Ready.”

Guitarist Rick Mitarotonda‘s “Arise” was played by Goose for the first time to start Sunday’s second set. “Arise” was premiered by Orebolo, an acoustic trio featuring Mitarotonda and Goose bandmates Peter Anspach and Jeff Arevalo on December 2, 2021 in Tarrytown, New York. The slow and reflective “Arise” was followed by the rollicking “Elizabeth.” A 13-minute “Into The Myst” then gave way to a take on The Clash’s “Rock The Casbah.” From there Goose embarked on an “Elmeg The Wise” set closer than spanned over 20 minutes.
