Goose kicked off a two-night run at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco on Saturday. As they’ve done nights previous on the West Coast, Goose unveiled a new original titled “Red Bird.”

Goose launched the concert with “Doc Brown” followed by the Vasudo tune “Rockdale.” A 14-minute version of the disco-tinged “Yeti” then led into a cover of The Beatles’ psychedelic classic “Tomorrow Never Knows” ahead of a “Yeti” reprise. A paring of “Old Man’s Boat” and “Dragonfly together clocked in at over 20-minutes to close the first frame.

The second set got underway with keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach leading the band through “Red Bird.” While it appears that “Red Bird” first took flight in San Francisco, the band performed a song called “Red Bird” back on April 18, 2015, as per El Goose.net, before Peter joined the band. Goose explored the atmospheric tune and built the breezy jam to a crescendo before closing out. All told, “Red Bird” surpassed the 17-minute mark.

Walter Murphy’s funky disco tune “A Fifth Of Beethoven” followed ahead of a faster feel on “Echo Of A Rose.” A substantial version of “This Old Sea” came next before Goose embarked on a nearly 20-minute “The Empress Of Organos,” which contained elements of “Jive I” and The Band’s “Don’t Do It,” to bring the second set to a close. Goose returned to encore with “The Doobie Song.”
