The 2017 Global Citizen Festival will be held on September 23 on the Great Lawn in Central Park in New York City. The lineup of musicians performing at the annual free-ticketed event has been confirmed, with Stevie Wonder topping the bill.

Global Citizen’s mission is to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030 and the annual one-day concert event is meant to foster action toward accomplishing that goal. Joining the legendary Wonder on the 2017 Global Citizen Festival lineup will be Green Day, The Killers, The Lumineers and The Chainsmokers. Additionally, there will be special performances by Pharell Williams, Big Sean, Andra Day and Alessia Cara.

Tickets will once again be granted to individuals who earn enough qualifying points by participating in “Action Journeys” through the official Global Citizen app. This year’s theme “For Freedom. For Justice. For All.” coincides with the three Action Journeys which focus on issues such as “education, food security, healthcare, gender equality, and sanitation.” Media partner MSNBC and Comcast NBCUniversal shared these details regarding the first Action Journey:

August 1st marks the launch of “Action Journey 1: For Freedom,” in which Global Citizens will complete actions in support of maternal health, polio eradication, girls’ education, increased foreign aid, and more. Download the Global Citizen app to start taking action and earning points for tickets to the Festival.

MSNBC will present the September 23 concert live on both the MSNBC cable channel and online at www.msnbc.com.
