Gillian Welch is keeping busy in the early part of 2018. Tonight she begins a run of shows with her long-time collaborator David Rawlings as part of his backing band in support of his most recent studio album Poor David’s Almanack. This spring the duo will switch roles as Welch has just revealed a string of “An Evening With” dates for this April.
The folk-singer has added a number of new gigs around previously announced festival appearances that will feature two full sets with her longtime musical partner. The run will get underway on April 9 at The Peace Center in Greensville, South Carolina. Welch will then play a pair of shows in North Carolina at the Carolina Theater in Greensboro on April 11 and the Brooklyn Art Center in Wilmington the next night. She will also appear at the Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, South Carolina on April 13 and the Georgia Theatre on April 16. Welch also announced she and Rawlings will play a co-headling show with the Punch Brothers at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on September 17.
