Ghost Light Shares Borderland Festival Official Recording
Ghost Light was among the acts to play the 2019 installment of the Borderland Music & Arts Festival near Buffalo last month. This week’s Full Show Friday features just-released official audio of Ghost Light’s hour-long set from September 22.
The quintet featuring keyboardist Holly Bowling, guitarists Tom Hamilton and Raina Mullen, drummer Scotty Zwang and bassist Dan Africano focused on material from their debut studio album, Best Kept Secrets. Ghost Light used opener “Don’t Come Apart Just Yet, My Dear” as a springboard to a meaty jam that eventually gave way to “Best Kept Secret.”
Another expansive bit of improvisation emerged out of “Best Kept Secret” that featured both blissful and spacey jamming. Hamilton led a build to a huge peak before the group closed out “Don’t Come Apart.” Ghost Light then served up a second adventurous song sandwich by inserting “Synth Driver” from Tommy’s American Babies days within “Keep Your Hands To Yourself.” The five-piece linked “Keep Your Hands To Yourself” and the end of “Best Kept Secret” with an ambient jam.
