Gentlemen’s Night For Widespread Panic In Atlanta

Georgia rockers Widespread Panic fit a “Ladies Night”-themed show into their most recent Halloween run in Las Vegas. On Saturday night, the band presented “Gentlemen’s Night” for their second of three year-ending concerts at the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Atlanta.

The sextet opened with a run of “One Arm Steve,” “Henry Parsons Died” and “C. Brown.” While “Bear’s Gone Fishin'” was a bit of a stretch for the theme, “Hatfield” then made the rain come before fans took a trip down “Papa Johny Road.” Next, a little “Space Wrangler” was born and the audience saw “him squirming in the saddle.” A 2017 bust out laid ahead in the form of Panic’s cover of Traffic’s “Dear Mr. Fantasy.” The band then closed out the frame with Neil Young’s “Mr. Soul.”

Widespread Panic began the evening’s second set with their prized version of “Papa Legba” by Talking Heads. “Gentlemen’s Night” rolled on with “Junior,” “Steven’s Cat” and a well-jammed “Tall Boy” that eventually gave way to the 2017 debut of Curtis Mayfield’s “Pusherman.” The jams continued as Panic slickly worked into a “Papa’s Home” that featured the usual “Drums” segment within. Panic then took it down a notch with the gorgeous “Jack” and presented “Saint Ex” ahead of a “Conrad” set-closer.

For the encore, WSP finished the theme strong with three songs. First up was “Blue Indian” which was followed by two men: “Sleeping Man” and “Action Man.” Widespread Panic concludes their visit to the Fox tonight.
