Rush bassist Geddy Lee and pop stars Justin Bieber and Bryan Adams are among the Canadian musicians who contributed to a new version of Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me.” All of the musicians who added to “Lean On Me” participated in a video that premiered during a benefit special that aired on Canadian television last night dubbed Stronger Together, Tous Ensemble. Proceeds from the single, celebrating the launch of ArtistsCAN, will go towards The Canadian Red Cross and the fight against COVID-19 in Canada.
Tyler Shaw and Fefe Dobson recruited the over 25 musicians who participated in the “Lean On Me” single/video. The Young Astronauts directed the video for the single, which was produced by Jon Levine. Bill Withers originally released “Lean On Me” on his sophomore studio album, 1972’s Still Bill.
