‘GarciaLive Volume Nine’ Features Jerry Garcia & Merl Saunders Show From 1974

The next installment of the Jerry Garcia live archival series GarciaLive will feature an official recording of a previously uncirculated show from 1974 and is due out July 28 via Round Records/ATO Records. GarciaLive Volume Nine was recorded at the famed Keystone in Berkeley, California on August 11, 1974 and finds Jerry Garcia joined by keyboardist/vocalist Merl Saunders.
The lineup for the version of the Garcia/Saunders band featured on GarciaLive Volume Nine is filled out with Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann, multi-instrumentalist Martin Fierro and bassist John Kahn. Included on the two-CD release are renditions of The Band’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” Jimmy Cliff’s “The Harder They Come” and Thigpen/Marion/Banks’ “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” as well as a take on Fierro’s “La La.” Listen to “The Harder They Come” off GarciaLive Volume Nine, which was premiered by Relix:
