Galactic & Macy Gray :: New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival :: 5.01.15 :: The Fairgrounds :: New Orleans, LA

The second day of the second weekend of the 46th annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival featured the debut of Galactic With Macy Gray at The Fairgrounds on Friday. The New Orleans funk institution welcomed Gray as front woman for portions of their set on the Acura Stage ahead of headliners No Doubt. Gray led the band on a number of her songs including the 1999 smashes “I Try” and “Why Didn’t You Call Me.” Macy wasn’t the only guest to assist Galactic as percussionist Mike Dillon sat-in throughout the entire set and vocalist Erica Falls belted out a few tunes. NOLA.com notes Gray was unimpressed with the crowd reaction. “You sound like 400 people. Do I have to sleep with you to get you to scream?” Macy reportedly said. Next up for the Galactic/Macy Gray collaboration is an appearance at Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama on May 15.
