Full Show Video: Jim James Covers Parliament & More In Los Angeles

My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James brought his solo tour in support of his new album Eternally Even to the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles Friday night. James and his band featuring members of opening act Twin Limb offered a take on song originally performed by Parliament as part of the show’s encore.

James again offered a similar setlist to other stops on the tour, playing all nine of the songs that make up Eternally Even a cover of “I’m Set Free” by The Velvet Underground and a few tracks off his 2013 solo album Regions Of Light And Sound And God. James kicked off the encore alone for an acoustic rendition of “Changing World” from his New Multitudes side project. The rest of the band then emerged for the Regions cut “Of The Mother Again.”

The encore continued with the tour’s first cover of “Come In Out Of The Rain” which Parliament recorded and released in the early-1970s. A segue into “Down on the Bottom” by James’ other side project The New Basement Tapes and his “State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U.)” closed out the encore and show.
