Towards the end of 1970 The Band were firing on all cylinders as a live act. It had been over a year since Robbie Robertson, Garth Hudson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel had first performed under “The Band” moniker at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom and by the time they played Pittsburgh’s Syria Mosque auditorium on November 1, 1970 they had become known for their live shows as well as their monumental studio work.

The Band’s performance in Pittsburgh from 1970 featured powerful renditions of songs from the group’s first three studio albums. Thankfully for us, there are a couple of ways to enjoy what the legendary quintet laid down that night in Steel City. There’s a crispy soundboard recording of the whole show as well as pro-shot video featuring four tunes performed that night.
