Full Show Friday | Mike Gordon Chicago 2003
By Andy Kahn Jun 5, 2015 • 9:20 am PDT

Phish bassist Mike Gordon has assembled new and old members of his solo band for a tour that begins tonight, Friday June 5 at Charleston Music Hall in Charleston, South Carolina. The current Mike Gordon band lineup features past members Scott Murawski (guitar) and Craig Myers (percussion) as well as first timers Robert Walter (keyboards) and John Kimock (drums). As Cactus prepares for a new tour we’re revisiting his first solo tour in 2003 for Full Show Friday.

Back in 2003 Gordon set out on his first solo tour. His backing band at the time included Murawski along with James Harvey (keyboards), Gordon Stone (banjo/lap steel), Julee Avallone (horns), Josh Roseman (horns), Doug Belote (drums) and Jeannie Hill (tap dance). In true outside-of-the-box Gordon fashion, Hill did indeed provide percussive tap dancing on stage as a full fledged member of the band as you can see in the video below. Filmed on October 10, 2003 (the video has a typo) Cactus and crew were in Chicago to play The Vic Theatre midway through his first solo tour.
