Full Show Audio & Video: moe. Makes Pappy & Harriet’s Debut
An extensive summer run for moe. continued on Saturday night at the historic venue Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, California. Pappy & Harriet’s was originally built as Pioneertown Palace, a Western-style movie set that was used in dozens of films and television shows in the ’40s and ’50s. moe.’s performance at the venue/restaurant was their first and featured a number of tour debuts.
moe. dusted off bassist Rob Derhak’s “White Lightning Turpentine” for the first time since April 6, 2017 to open Saturday’s concert. A rare standalone “Threw It All Away” came next before moe. busted out “Rainshine” after more than 14 months on the shelf. Guitarist Chuck Garvey’s “It” then made its tour debut and led into “Head.” The beloved “Jazz Wank” > “Buster” pairing went on to conclude the frame.
The quintet focused on improvisation over the course of a 40-minute “Water” > “Puebla” > “Silver Sun” sequence that began Saturday’s second set. Yet another rarity came next as moe. unearthed “Brittle End” for the first time since April 28, 2017. moe. then performed Al Schnier’s “What Can I Say,” a song debuted earlier this year. A short and sweet “The Pit” ended the second set, while “Tailspin” served as the evening’s encore. moe. resumes tour on Wednesday in Aspen.
