Last night Umphrey’s McGee began a run of shows in Florida with a performance at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg. The evening featured UM mixing in a pair of bust outs into both the first and second set.

“You’ve Got the Wrong Guy” > “Crucial Taunt,” opened the first set that also saw extended renditions of “Higgins” and “Spires.” The improvisation that came out of the set one “Resolution” landed on a bust out of “Space Funk Booty,” which had last been played just over one year ago, spanning 97 shows between plays. “Attachments” served as the first set closer.

UM’s second set opened with “Kula” and an extensively jammed out offering of “Draconian.” Next came a bust out cover of Flock Of Seagulls’ “I Ran,” which had last been played in 2014 and entered a setlist for the first time in 240 shows. The set progressed with the pairings of “Night Nurse” and “40’s Theme,” and the “O.G.” arrangement of “Cut the Cable” and The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.” The sextet returned to the stage for an encore made up of their instrumental original “The Triple Wide.”

UM Florida run continues tonight at the House of Blues in Lake Buena Vista with Big Something once again opening. Taper NSL posted a recording of Wednesday’s show in St. Pete, stream it here:
