Pianist Holly Bowling recently concluded a spring tour with a swing through cities along the Northeast Corridor. This past Friday, Bowling played at The Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. where she opened for The Knights. Holly has shared multi-cam video of her set from The Hamilton which included her trademark interpretations of Grateful Dead and Phish songs.
Most of Bowling’s set revolved around the Grateful Dead fan-favorite triumvirate of “Help On The Way,” “Slipknot!” and “Franklin’s Tower.” The pianist kicked off the 45-minute performance with “Help” and worked “Slipknot!” into a cover of “Taste” by Phish. Holly then spoke to the crowd before beginning a gorgeous version of “Bird Song.” Eventually, “Bird Song” gave way to “Slipknot!” and a euphoric “Franklin’s Tower.” Bowling had one more treat in store as she ended the set with an interpretation of “The Squirming Coil.”
