Fruition and Madeline Hawthorne were the guests on the latest episode of eTown. The band and singer-songwriter teamed with hosts Nick and Helen Forster along with the eTones to honor the late Sly Stone with Sly & the Family Stone‘s “Everyday People.”
Pioneering musician Sly Stone passed away on June 9. Sly & The Family Stone was born when Sly and his brother Freddie merged their bands in 1966. Sly & The Family Stone released their masterful album, Stand!, in 1969 which contained the inclusivity anthem “Everyday People.”

Madeline Hawthorne and Fruition — Jay Cobb Anderson, Jeff Leonard, Kellen Asebroek, Mimi Naja and Tyler Thompson — selected “Everyday People” for the eTown finale. But it wasn’t the first choice as host Nick Forster explained ahead of the performance with the help of the ensemble on some gorgeous harmonies.
