Earlier this year, acoustic quintet Front Country started the “Kitchen Covers” video series in which the group gathers in a kitchen to perform a song that has inspired them. The latest installment finds the string band honoring their move to Nashville with a cover of “Tennessee Jed” by the Grateful Dead.

Front Country was birthed in 2011 out of open bluegrass jams in San Francisco. Vocalist/guitarist Melody Walker, guitarist Jacob Groopman, mandolinist Adam Roszkiewicz, fiddle player Leif Karlstrom and bassist Jeremy Darrow went on to win the Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s band competition in 2013 and have since played festivals and headlining shows across the country. Last year, the five-piece issued Other Love Songs on Organic Records.

Past “Kitchen Covers” episodes have found the group performing “Bizness” by tUnE-yArDs, “Don’t Do Me Like That” by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got To Do With It.” The five-piece filmed their rendition of “Tennessee Jed” at Acousticool in Bristol, Connecticut. Front Country was actually cooking Banh Mi-inspired pork tacos while filming the video and shared the recipe for those who want to give it a try.
