Zappa Records/UMe shared a previously unreleased outtake of “Your Mouth” in preview of the Waka/Wazoo box set, due out on December 16. “Your Mouth” (Take 1) marks the first music Zappa laid down for his landmark 1972 album, Waka/Jawaka.
The forthcoming third Zappa box set of 2022 documents The Maestro’s Electric Orchestra period, which comprised the albums Waka/Jawaka and The Grand Wazoo. The Zappa camp announced the collection in October and shared an alternate take on “Cletus Awreetus-Awrightus”.
The latest preview, “Your Mouth” (Take 1), gives fans a chance to hear the very first music laid down of the Electric Orchestra era. Take one is about two minutes longer than the final take and begins with some banter between vocalists Kris Peterson and Sal Marquez. The outtake also features extended soloing from Frank.
