Forest Hills Stadium issued a statement rebutting a New York Post report that the Queens New York venue will not be able to host concerts this summer. The Post article alleges the former tennis facility that has hosted concerts annually since 2014 was “denied its new sound amplification permits.”
Phish, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, Leon Bridges and Tyler Childers are among the acts on the 2025 Forest Hills Stadium concert schedule.
According to The Post, issues raised by New York Police Department Legal Bureau Inspector William Gallagher about access to roads surrounding the stadium led to the purported denial of the necessary permits. The issues stemmed from the longstanding dispute between West Side Tennis Club (which operates Forest Hills Stadium) and the Forest Hills Garden Corporation made up of area residents.
Numerous legal and other complaints have been leveled against Forest Hills Stadium since concerts began over a decade ago. A concert curfew was imposed in an attempt to alleviate the neighborhood association’s concerns.
The venue’s Instagram account shared a message responding to The New York Post report, reassuring its intent to host concerts, while labeling the complaints as a “vocal NIMBY [not in my backyard] minority of Forest Hills Gardens.”
Bloc Party will kick off the Forest Hills Stadium concert series on May 31. See the Forest Hills Stadium response below.
