There’s sad news from the Foreigner camp today as founder Mick Jones explained why he hasn’t performed with the band since 2022. The 79-year-old guitarist revealed a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis has kept him off the road in a statement posted on Foreigner’s social feeds.
“Fans will have become very aware that for some time now, I have not been performing onstage with the band. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I want everyone to know that I am doing alright. However, I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage, and sadly, at present, I find that a bit difficult,” wrote Jones.
“I am still very much involved in the background with Foreigner and remain a presence. Parkinson’s is a daily struggle; the important thing is to persevere and remind myself of the wonderful career I’ve had in music,” Jones continued. “I thank all the fans who have supported Foreigner throughout the years and continue to attend our concerts — I want you to know I appreciate your support; it always means so very much to me, but especially so at this point in my life.”

Foreigner, currently on the road as part of a farewell tour that started in 2023, was founded by Jones with British and American musicians in 1976. The band was recently nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame's class of 2024. Jones and his bandmates are first-time nominees.
The band has gone through numerous lineup changes over the past five decades. Jones is the last remaining original member. Foreigner scored plenty of hits with “Feels Like The First Time,” “Double Vision,” “Juke Box Hero” and “I Want To Know What Love Is” among the band’s best known songs.
Foreigner has tour dates planned through November, when they will play a residency in Las Vegas. Scroll below for the full routing including shows across North America.
