Foo Fighters Welcome Liam Gallagher, Joe Perry, Rick Astley & More At CalJam ’17

This weekend the Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California played host to CalJam ’17, a music festival that was curated by the Foo Fighters. The day-long event featured performances from the likes of Cage The Elephant, Japandroids, Bob Mould, The Kills and Queens Of The Stone Age, as well as a set from Dave Grohl & Co.

The Foo Fighters opened their headlining set last night with Grohl performing “Times Like These” solo acoustic, with the rest of the band eventually joining him on stage. The band’s 22-song performance saw them mix material from throughout their career with takes on “Learn To Fly,” “The Pretender,” “The Sky Is My Neighborhood,” “My Hero,” “Monkey Wrench,” “Rope” and “Everlong.”

The Foos also welcomed a handful of guests to join them throughout their set. Six songs in the band was joined by The Kills lead singer Alison Mosshart and smooth jazz saxophonist Dave Koz for a take on “La Dee Da,” a track from their most recent studio album Concrete and Gold that they both appear on. Later in the set the band brought out their second guest of the night, as Rick Astley emerged after Grohl’s introduced him as a “bad mother-f*cker.” Reprising their collaborations from this past summer in both London and Tokyo, Astley offered up a grunge-infused version of his 1987 number hit “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

Two songs later the Foo Fighters welcomed Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry for a take on “Draw The Line,” the title track from the classic rock act’s 1977 release. The Foos had one more surprise up their sleeve as Liam Gallagher strolled to the stage next. The former Oasis front man, who had performed a solo set earlier in the day, led the band along with Perry on guitar, through a rendition of The Beatles’ classic “Come Together.”
