Flea Brings Talented Honora Band To NPR’s ‘Tiny Desk Concert’

Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea showcased his recently released solo album, Honora, for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. Flea switched between his usual bass and the trumpet during the three-song session.

Backing Flea were members of his talented Honora Band – guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Anna Butterss, saxophonist Josh Johnson and drummer Deantoni Parks.

“Working with the musicians that I’ve worked with has been the most exciting part,” Flea told NPR’s Kara Frame. “Just jamming, connecting and feeling who they are.”

Flea played trumpet on the set-opening “Traffic Lights” and then doubled up on bass duties with Butterss on “Morning Cry.” A third Honora song, “A Plea,” saw Flea go without an instrument to deliver its potent lyrics.
