Fantastic Negrito Performs On CBS ‘Saturday Sessions’

Each Saturday, CBS This Morning presents a series of musical performances under the Saturday Sessions banner. This morning’s installment featured Fantastic Negrito, who performed a trio of songs from his recently released album Please Don’t Be Dead.

The singer’s career has gone through a number of twists and turns that are seemingly straight out of an episode of VH1’s Behind The Music before winning NPR Music’s inaugural Tiny Desk Content in 2015. He flirted with major label success in the mid-90s, was involved in a car crash that left him in a coma for three weeks and quit music altogether for a number of years. The Oakland-based act, who mixes rock, blues, soul and R&B, delivered takes on “A Cold November Street,” “Plastic Hamburger” and “The Duffler” for his appearance on the morning magazine show.
