Up-and-coming jam quartet Spafford made their Summer Camp Music Festival debut in late May at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois. The band played both a set during the Thursday pre-party and on the first official day of the event. JamBase is pleased to premiere professionally-shot video featuring one of the highlights from Spafford’s first set at Summer Camp ’17.
Spafford’s sets at Summer Camp gave the band a chance to show off new drummer Cameron Laforest. Laforest joins a lineup that includes guitarist Brian Moss, keyboardist Andrew “Red” Johnson and bassist Jordan Fairless. In the video below, the talented quartet works through “Mind’s Unchained,” an original debuted earlier this year.
“Summer Camp was a new and unique experience for us. We didn’t know what to expect and we ended up with a crowd of a couple thousand and it was just an incredible vibe from the stage with the audience. This jam is particularly tasty in its culmination of a gospel funk peak with rocking grooves the whole way through, driven by the massive crowd energy,” Fairless told JamBase about Summer Camp and the version of “Mind’s Unchained” from the event’s Thursday pre-party.
