As stated in the announcement, Ranglin’s cross-genre influence from jazz to ska during his lengthy career has seen him work with the likes of Monty Alexander, Lee “Scratch” Perry, The Skatilites, Jimmy Cliff and many others. Formed in part to back Ranglin’s 2011 High Sierra Music Festival performance, Avila features drummer Inx Herman (Mickey Hart Band, Hamsa Lila, Paul Simon), bassist Yossi Fine (Ex-Centric Soundsystem, David Bowie, Lou Reed) and keyboardist Jonathan Korty (Vinyl, Electric Apricot). Ranglin and Avila went on to record an album together in 2012 and teamed up again for last year’s LP Bless Up.

Tickets go on sale via the Terrapin Crossroads website and box office on Ernest’s 83rd birthday, Friday, June 19.
