Eric Clapton To Celebrate 70th Birthday With Concerts

Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton turns 70 in March and will celebrate the occasion in May with a series of concerts at Royal Albert Hall in London. Where’s Eric reports that the shows will take place May 14 -18 (four shows in total, there will be no performance on May 16). Eric will be accompanied by band members Paul Carrack, Steve Gadd, Nathan East, Chris Stainton, Sharon White and Michelle John.

In addition to Clapton’s 70th, the shows also honor the 50th anniversary of Eric’s first performance at the iconic London venue. Where’s Eric notes “his debut was on December 7, 1964 when he performed as part of the Yardbirds for BBC-2 TV’s Top Beat Show.”

Tickets for the 2015 shows go up for grabs this Friday, October 24 at 9 a.m. local time.
