VERY SPECIAL PERFORMANCE THIS FRIDAY FROM PROMISING YOUNG BAY AREA ARTIST

Mana Maddy
Mana Maddy (Madeline Streicek), former lead singer for Antioquia, will celebrate the release of her debut solo EP, Another Trip Around the Sun, this Friday, June 22nd at the Berkeley Fellowship Unitarian Universalist Church in Berkeley, CA. For the debut of her long-awaited EP Maddy joins forces with local installation and performance artist Kaitlin McSweeney (Judgement Day/Foxtails Brigade Parlour series, Project Ion) bringing together dance, projected visuals, opera and selected readings in a structure akin to that of ancient Greek theater, complete with an interactive chorus created for the event called One Breath Choir. Inspired by the proximity of the summer solstice to Maddy’s EP release, the event is woven with themes classically associated with solstice time.

Featured in the event will be dancer Alex Jenkins (2012 recipient of an Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Outstanding Performance) improvising to music from guitarist and soundscape weaver Mateo Lugo (Moontit, 7OrangeABC), Oakland’s Town Quartet performing several classical selections at 7:30pm as well as accompanying Mana Maddy, guest musician Dan Cantrell (Beats Antique, Kugelplex) on musical saw and accordian, “Chip Music” composer Disasterpeace (who recently received news that one of the compositions for his soundtrack for videogame “Fez” will be given an orchestral treatment by the London Philharmonic Orchestra on their next video game music compilation), photographer and projection artist Peter McCollough, and soprano Patricia Hodgins traveling from Vancouver, BC for the concert to perform with her daughter Madeline in their first public performance together.

Pre-Order the EP here, or better yet, pick up a copy at the show in Berkeley on Friday.
