Eddie Vedder’s tour in support of his newly released solo album Earthling made a stop in the San Diego area on Sunday night. The Pearl Jam frontman performed the live debut of “Good And Evil,” one of 10 songs from the new album that was part of the setlist on Sunday at The Magnolia in El Cajon.
The tour features Eddie Vedder And The Earthlings — Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, guitarist Glen Hansard, former RHCP/current Pearl Jam touring multi-instrumentalist Josh Klinghoffer, bassist Chris Chaney and guitarist Andrew Watt — who in addition to playing songs off Earthling, delivered a number of covers throughout the single-set performance.

The night began with “Society,” a song Vedder recorded with Jerry Hannan for the Into The Wild soundtrack, followed by covers of R.E.M.’s “Drive” and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Room At The Top.” The set also saw a take on The La’s “Timeless Melody” as well as Pearl Jam favorites “Wishlist,” “I Got Id,” “Lukin” and “Porch.”
The encore consisted of Petty’s “The Waiting,” Pete Townshend’s “Give Blood,” Pearl Jam’s “Dirty Frank,” George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity” and the show/tour finale cover of Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World.”
