On September 13, the latest book from Rush drummer Neil Peart will be released. Far and Wide: Bring that Horizon to Me! documents Peart’s experiences on the Canadian trio’s R40 Tour of 2015 which by most accounts will be the last Rush major tour.
Far and Wide: Bring that Horizon to Me! is the third book in Peart’s illustrated travel series and is said to include “all-new tales that transport the reader across North America and through memories of fifty years of playing drums. From the scenic grandeur of the American West to a peaceful lake in Quebec’s Laurentian Mountains to the mean streets of Midtown Los Angeles, each story is shared in an intimate narrative voice that has won the hearts of many readers.”
While Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson and bassist Geddy Lee took tour buses to travel between stops on the R40 Tour, Peart continued a tradition of riding a motorcycle between stops. All told, he put over 17,000 miles on his BMW motorcycle over the course of three months and 35 concerts.
Neil Peart’s Far and Wide: Bring that Horizon to Me! is currently available for pre-order via Amazon. Watch Peart discuss motorcycles and writing in a 2014 interview:
