Comedian Drew Carey is still reveling in his mind-blowing Phish experience at Sphere that made him want to “stick (his) dick in a blender.” Carey spoke with host Ari Fink about catching Phish at the state-of-the-art Las Vegas venue for an interview airing all week long on SiriusXM’s Phish Radio and had strong words when comparing Phish’s Sphere performance to those of U2.
U2 opened Sphere with a 40-show U2:UV Achtung Baby Live residency held September 29, 2023 – March 2, 2024. Carey, who considers himself a casual U2 fan, was talked into seeing the Irish band at Sphere by a friend. “It blew my mind how great it was,” Drew told Fink and Carey wound returning the next two weekends in a row. “Then, three songs into Thursday night with Phish at the Sphere, I honestly was kinda mad. I wanted to call U2 and get my money back,” Carey exclaimed. “It made them look like a bar band.”

“Nothing against U2, it was a great show,” Carey said and later added, “I think Phish took full advantage of the audio and the video in that place and what could possibly be done. Now my mind is spinning about things I want to see at the Sphere.” He brought up the possibility of his hometown symphony, the Cleveland Orchestra, performing at the $2.3 billon venue. “Could you imagine a great world orchestra at the Sphere?”
Phish made their Sphere debut with a four-night stand April 18 – 21. Drew Carey posted his not-safe-for-work tweet on Monday, April 22. The Price Is Right host then appeared on the Tuesday, April 23 episode of After Midnight to recount the experience and used similarly strong and brash language.

Drew Carey’s “I would give you all my money, stick my dick in a blender and swear off pussy for the rest of my life in exchange for this,” tweet in regards to Phish at Sphere led him to receiving a fitting git. The band sent him a Vitamix blender signed by Trey Anastasio. “Hi Drew! So thrilled that you could be at the Sphere with us!,” began a note from the guitarist accompanying the blender. “Hope you enjoy this gift and lets do it again. Sending mountains of love.”
The comedian shared photos of the blender and note while Instagram’s phishonphilm posted a pic of Anastasio holding the device before it was sent to Carey.
