Donna Jean Godchaux To Reunite The Heart Of Gold Band At Sweetwater

Vocalist Donna Jean Godchaux Mackay, who sang with the Grateful Dead over a large portion of the ’70s, was a founding member of the Heart Of Gold Band with her husband Keith Godchaux, guitarist Steve Kimock, drummer Greg Anton, bassist Dexter LaBlanc and vocalist Greta Rose in 1980. Donna Jean will reunite with Kimock and Anton for a Heart Of Gold Band performance at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California on Jerry Garcia’s birthday August 1. The Heart Of Gold Band at Sweetwater will also feature David Mackay and Mookie Siegel.

As Jambands.com notes, “Keith died soon after their first show, and the band played together for only a year but reformed for a stint in 2004 with Godchaux’s current husband, David MacKay, along with Anton, Keith’s brother Brian and several other new members.” Tickets for The Heart Of Gold Band’s performance at Sweetwater are on sale now via Ticketfly.
