Dogs In A Pile brought their spring tour to Kenny’s West Side Pub in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday. The New Jersey-based jam quintet honored the late Dave Mason by debuting a Traffic classic.

Dave Mason died April 19 at age 79. A co-founder of highly influential group Traffic, Mason’s “Feelin’ Alright?” originally appeared on the band’s 1968 self-titled album. Joe Cocker had a hit with the song in 1969 and it has since become a classic rock mainstay.

Dogs In A Pile selected the song as a tribute to Mason in Peoria on Saturday, marking the band’s first take on the tune. Led by guitarist Jimmy Law, DIAP dropped the debut roughly half way into their first set. Watch below:

Dogs kicked off the concert with “Westward,” penned by bassist Sam Lucid. The first frame also saw the band going big on staple “Look Johnny” ahead of set closer, “Mr. Tooker.”

DIAP kept the jams coming to open set two. “Thomas Duncan Pt. 2,” off DIAP’s 2021 debut studio album Not Your Average Beagle, and “Charlie” both surpassed the 20-minute mark.

The latter led into a breakout of the Peter Gabriel classic “In Your Eyes” and the band also touched on a cover from Fiona Apple (“Criminal”). Set closer, Jefferson Airplane's “White Rabbit,” was preceded by the band’s original “Rabbit.” Dogs sealed the show with a “Chop Shop” encore.
